Spear Leaner

Flex the tech and roll. This is a documentation.

My friend complimented the color scheme of my company's website, PostcardPros, and commented that it looked like an 'adobe' color scheme. Now I have been using photoshop for a long time now and I wasn't quite sure what she meant, and our interaction went like this:

plutonicfriend: i like the rounded better.
me: ok cool
plutonicfriend: is this an adobe color scheme
me: hmm what?
plutonicfriend: the website http://kuler.adobe.com/
me: amazing!
...
plutonicfriend: but yeah save that adobe site
the color schemes are hot. its so easy
just to pick one or show a client so they can choose
So this is what she meant! What a good find!

Such was my introduction to Adobe's Kuler. Many times I have toiled to find a good blend of 3-4 different colors to use for whatever, and I would play the trial and error feedback game until I was satisfied with how the colors worked together. I wished that someone with better vision would just advise me on how to proceed.

This is exactly what Kuler does, and has the potential to do. Users create, submit, comment and rate color schemes and pallets. Then designers like me have an abundance of pre-created options to choose from.

In my opinion it lacks one obvious feature: Visitors should be able to search a specific hexcode, or set of hexcodes, and then have complimenting user submitted pallets returned in the results. This would complete the website concept and bump up the website utility rating.

Hope you guys enjoy this resource,
Hudson
